Sister of Anne Lister – Hoodie 

I’m a Yorkshire Lesbian myself, and although I have little else in common with Anne Lister, I feel immense admiration for her and can well imagine a little about how she might have been gone about her business to be our leading lesbian. 

Many people now know of Anne Lister thanks to the BBC TV adaptation ‘Gentleman Jack’. You can visit her family abode at Shibden Hall and imagine her moving around there. 

For me though, it’s about her being a Yorkshire Lesbian who seemed to get on with her life, despite the views of society about her choices. Yes, her status would definitely have helped, but still, she seemed to hold the line for lesbians at a time that we were barely visible.
